Pink Eye

What it is: Pinkeye (also called conjunctivitis) is redness and swelling of the conjunctiva, the mucous membrane that lines the eyelid and eye surface.

How it spreads: Poor hand-washing is the main cause of the spread of pinkeye. Sharing an object, such as a washcloth or towel, with a person who has pinkeye can spread the infection.

What to look for: crusty eye upon waking from sleep also the white of the eye will be pink

What you can do: Make an appointment to see your doctor and get on a prescription right away

At our center we constantly are disinfecting toys and try to keep virus from spreading by not letting children share toys. We also follow a strick policy that a child is not allowed back to the center until they have been on medication for 24 hours.

Dear Parents,
James 5:13-15, “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him
pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick?
Let him call for the elders of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing
him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the
sick, and the Lord will raise him up.”We have the amazing ability to take our
needs, hurts, praises, and wishes to the Lord at any time. God cares and He
listens when we take the time to have that relationship with Him. We want to be
about that here at Little Angel's as well.

journal 7 dressing for success/ what not to wear

When I dress for success I feel more professional and focused when in my "uniform." Also when I get home I can then relax and decompress by changing. It's a physical process and mindset cue, and helps keep work and play separate.I also feel more confident and feel better prepared in the workforce.  I also think it sends a message about who I am. Both personality wise, and work wise. I'm serious, take my work seriously. I value quality. I understand the importance of details, and first impressions. And if you go to work sloppy than your work will be sloppy. It's kinda like the saying you are what you eat. Going to work dressed professionally helps to motivate you to do a good job.

journal 6 page 66

Yes the confidentiality code was broken. Before she posted the child's phone number she should have made sure it was okay with the parent. Also giving information to other parents about who the biter is in the classroom is not allowed. They should have had a meeting concerning the child prior to his first day so that everyone was on the same page on how to deal with the child or put any concerns out there to get answers. As a teacher they should not talk about other children and their problems in front of them. Children can understand mostly what you mean and not understand where your coming from. The mother tried to make is transition easy as possible an none of the teachers worked with him at all nor did they help him to get acquainted with the children. The discussion at the restaurant was not necessary because you never know who is listening so that again is breaking confidentiality. The director needs to take better charge and have everyone on the same page.As a parent i would not have my child go to a facility like that. When a teacher acts like that it is not professional nor gives me confidence that my child is safe and taken good care of in there care therefore I would find a better facility.

Journal 4

1.     How does it feel when someone does not use your name, gives you the cold shoulder, does not make eye contact and only greets you with complaints?

It is hard to work with someone that comes across rude by not making eye contact when speaking to you but is always negative and people feel like they just give them the cold shoulder and don't care. I think that some people who may be shy come across like that. For example we had a new girl start at the center I currently work for she worked the same shift as me and every time anyone tried to talk to her we either did not get a reply or it was just a one or two word short answer. We actually gave up on talking to her because they way she carried herself came across very rude to people. About after a month of her working with us she started getting into conversations with people and making eye contact and being involved and we found out how sweet and down to earth she was. Our first judgement of her were off and it make us feel bad for judging her as fast as we did. My mom always said don't judge a book by it's cover and in this case she was right. I know have a new friend we just had to give her time to get out of her shell and become comfortable with us.
But I have also encouraged other teachers that are not their for the children working at the daycare is just a job and their demeanor and attitude make for a lousy work environment. They didn't care about feeding or playing with the children it was more about them and the drama in their lives. They only greeted you if you were one of them and gave others that they felt were inferior to the the cold shoulder and were just plain rude.
People in any environment just need to learn to be professional leave all your problems at home and come to work for the same reason. "The Children" they are what is important.
